How did man ‘fall’ from the Garden of Eden and do we ‘return’?
Q: What would be the difference between having a desire to be one with God versus trying to induce a state/trying to reach a higher spiritual status via artificial means?
A: The induced state of seeming separation via attraction and aversion or addiction and withdrawal to substances is the problem – effect cannot be used to reach cause. Man is seemingly enslaved to the senses via the cycle of having and losing (aka the death of the qualitative state of eternal Beingness).
The artificial only simulates the real and it is simulated so briefly that it must be repeated endlessly to continue to achieve that brief moment of simulation. One may consume something that alters one’s brain chemistry momentarily however the brain will go into withdrawal afterwards and the original state of longing to use something artificial will be amplified. It’s a losing battle.
Only the undoing of the sequentially alternating pair of opposites (refraining from ‘eating from the tree of good and evil’ – and instead SURRENDERING it for the tree of lives) can recall the Presence of the ecstasy that manifests the Garden.
