Until there is Known Unity again, symbols are used to communicate.
All ideas seemingly projected from the Godhead and embodied for a time in God’s Play can but come back to rest in their Source. Actors in the play simulate the temporary aka the “perishable” by embodiment of it for a time. To “wake up” is to realize that one is acting by believing in the temporary and embodying it. Once awake, one is no longer a “regular” actor in the play, but an enlightened one, with a different function than to project a stage upon which to make belief.
The enlightened realize that God’s Idea is never actually projected; God’s Idea interchanges with only itself. God doesn’t “lose His Mind” when other ideas are projected from it and thus they must “return”. The idea of “going away and coming back” is an illusion within illusion; nothing ever leaves Source. It is only a nonlinear set of electric mirrors set up just so to reflect the idea of a “separate mind”; God allows the mirrors, and yet still keeps His Mind intact.
The Kingdom of Heaven appears to be separated into parts, yet it is not. The Cosmic Play is about the belief in separation from the Kingdom of Heaven, and the mirrors are set up just so to reflect that belief to infinity to “prove” it. Yet reflections never leave their Source, only in set of mirrors aimed at an idea just so do they appear to do so.
The sleep-walking actor in the play who believes his reflection to be real must carry on to the next scene in the extension to infinity; the woken actor realizes that a set of mirrors may be used to embody ideas to infinity, but they cannot make them real. The Source of ideas to embody is all that is Real.
There are two kinds of people in the world: those acting, yet aware of the truth, and those acting asleep, and about to awaken.
In ACIM it speaks to the nonlinear Knowledge the waking share through the use of the symbols that the world understands for a time, until all acting ceases and communication “as usual” Resumes.
“It would be strange indeed if you were asked to go beyond all symbols of the world, forgetting them forever; yet were asked to take a teaching function. You have need to use the symbols of the world for awhile. But be you not deceived by them as well. They do not stand for anything at all, and in your practicing it is this though that will release you from them. They become but means by which you can communicate in ways the world can understand, but which you recognize the unity where true communication can be found.”
