How mind in Love with Itself is mind at peace, with quotes from Dr David R Hawkins’ book Reality, Spirituality and Modern Man:
“Q: Your descriptions of advanced spiritual states are in third person. Why is that?
A: The phenomena described are not personal and are therefore termed ‘conditions’ or ‘states’ that are self-existent. There is no ‘person’ who is enlightened. The sense of ‘I’ or ‘you’ or ‘me’ is replaced by a self-existent state with no particular locality or linear characteristics. It is more akin to a luminous sky with no location, boundaries, time, beginning, or end. The condition does not ‘do’ or ’cause’ anything. Phenomena are seen to be transient, with no personal cause or intrinsic reality. God/Buddha Nature is and as such is complete. Therefore, it does not ‘do’ anything or ‘go’ anywhere, nor is there a time track of ‘duration’. ‘Now’ and ‘forever’ are identical.”
Further on, Hawkins talks about facilitating progress by “avoiding adjectives for they are all projected, mentalized qualifications. Later, one can even drop adverbs for nothing is actually ‘doing’ anything; it just innately is. Transition is a phenomenon that stems from within the observer who sees sequence as a verb. If seen in less than 1/10,000 of a second, everything appears to be stationary.”
The intention is to write for the Holy Spirit, to write for God vs ego, to write for that 1/10,000 of a second that is the “gap” “between” thoughts where “Buddha Nature” lives. What seems like eons of time has been devoted to writing for ego, to scripting a fictitious universe by stringing random thoughts together, to projecting illusions and finding parts of mind where they seem to be shared. Pursuing enlightenment serves fellow humans because enlightenment entails the surrender of attachment to all illusions vs the ongoing projection of them. There is recall of consciously manifesting what was held in mind as if to claim ownership of it, and lord over it; as if to keep some of God’s Mind separate, when it is only in the return of Love to Source that anything can be kept at all.
Selfless service teaches how God is, always, where service to ego manifests conditions on Selflessness and thus “confirms” the idea of a subjective self that is seemingly not included in God’s Service. Where the energy of ego is condemnation and limitation (force), the energy of God is Infinite Mercy (Power). To know God in the original state of the Self is to know perfect Beingness or power without any conditions forced (such as form/the body) on the giving and receiving of Pure Love. “There is no person who is enlightened”, so to let go of adjectives and adverbs releases the idea of the “doer” from mind. The body and its doingness are but limitations placed by the part of mind that believes in separation from the ever present Self.
Jesus/The Holy Spirit from ACIM said, on the “results” of the pursuit of enlightenment (which is essentially the undoing of guilt over the belief in separation by the recognition of the Christ in All, and thus realization of Self): “When you have let all that obscured the truth in your most holy mind be undone for you, and therefore stand in grace before your Father, He will give Himself to you as He has always done. Giving Himself is all He knows, and so it is all knowledge. For what He knows not cannot be, and therefore cannot be given.”
“What God knows not” was invented, imagined, “done up” by the part of mind that believes in fiction, and thus this fiction can be “undone”, surrendered, released from mind. Mind at rest does not “do” anything or “go” anywhere. Mind at rest without identification with projection away from Itself knows only Itself. Devoid of conditions reflected by fictitious projections, mind at rest is at total peace – absolutely in Love with ItSelf.
